Flour should only be measured by scooping your measurement (e.g., 1 cup) then running a knife over the rim to remove the excess.
Baking will be an uphill battle if your appliances are not up to the task. Partselect.com recommends performing a bit of preventative maintenance every now and again. Visually inspect your dishwasher, oven, refrigerator, mircrowave, and any other essential appliance, for faulty parts, broken seals, cracked gaskets, etc.
Get to know your oven: it has hot and cold spots. Try baking the same size roll of bread in different parts. This will allow you to adjust a recipe to YOUR oven’s cooking time.
